Is It Coincidence?
Could it be possible that it is coincidence that he says all these things at the right time? To answer that quickly; most definitely not. The odds of this happening in relation to what is going on around him would be astronomical. Maybe if you would have asked me that question when he was about two years old, I would have thought about it, but now, I am sure beyond a doubt that he is communicating on an cognizant level.
He started out saying one or two things a day that were in the proper context, now it’s 10 or 20 times a day and that is only when I'm listening. (Note: I wrote while Victor was still alive). He also proves to have a superior, if not photographic memory. It allows him to play back similar situations in his mind and then draw on it for the correct response. This is a highly sophisticated and complex way of communicating, because he's not just remembering the words, but situations as well. All this information is processed at lighting speed in a little brain not much bigger than a pea .
For example one day I put some water in a dish so he could take a bath. When he saw it he said "It's a dish." The same day I was sweeping his mess in front of the cage and he said "You are sweeping." I tried to take a picture of him today and he wouldn't let me. He said "Victor no like photo". I can't even remember ever calling it a photo before as I usually call it a picture. So where did he get the word photo from? I could go on and on, but I think your getting the point. Besides you've got all those audio files to listen to, so you better get to it. I find that even when I've listened to them many times before, I still pick up something I've missed. In closing, all I can say is the next time you think your budgie said something that made sense, he probably did, so let him know you heard him.
