-Parrotresearch.com- A Journey Into the Mind of A Talking Parrot
Too Intelligent For the Skeptics
Aug 6,2003
"Being skeptical of things that defy scientific explanation are natural and healthy for most humans. It makes us feel good that we know we are not fools by believing in everything people say without seeing the proof. However, once the proof is presented in a way that can no longer be refuted, we should not hold on to this skepticism, because if we do, then we truly become the fool that we have tried so hard not to be."

When you first come to this site, it is probably normal to have a certain amount of skepticism about it. Hopefully by the time you listen to some of the budgie recordings you will not have any. But if you are a die-hard skeptic, I apologize in advance, as I may strike a nerve or two. I believe without the skeptics this work would move forward much quicker. Therefore, I am going to talk quite a bit about it over the next few pages.
A majority of the people that come to this site embrace it for what it really is. A truthful study of a talking parrot that could speak in conversational language. However the claims that some make about it being a hoax are ridiculous and have no grounds whatsoever. Individuals who make these claims should understand that they are slandering me, especially if they say it in an open forum in writing. I do not take this lightly as I have worked very hard on these sites during the past few years to be libeled so unfairly.
It is also regrettable that most people have been cultured to basically disbelieve this is possible and do not really give it a fair chance. I feel compassion for those who are just starting a university education in related fields. Many are intelligent enough to appreciate the genuineness. For those that do, it does not make a very good starting point for them when they know that their professors are not correct when they say that parrots cannot learn to speak in context and understand humanistic concepts. It also becomes very challenging to change the minds of those that have spent many years learning what they believed were the most recent advances in animal behavior. Some of these are my biggest skeptics.
Three years ago, my dear budgie friend Victor and I set out to prove to the world once and for all that budgies were capable of speaking in conversational language. Sadly Victor has passed on from this life, but I continued what we started together, because I knew he would have wanted it that way.
Before I go any further, I would like to thank the Budgie Research Group for all their support and believing in me for the last few years. I have went through some very difficult times with the loss of Victor. Through that difficult time you have supported me and gave me encouragement. You have also studied my theories and learned much through Victor's recordings. I would also like to congratulate those that have worked very hard at bonding with your budgies and teaching them to converse in our language. You are amongst the first in the world to break the communication gap that has existed between man and animal since the beginning of time. As a result we currently have over 12 other budgies/parakeets in the group that are talking in conversational language similar to Victor.
If you are a member of the scientific community, you should be aware that the information on this site is presented in a way that the average person can understand it. I do not rely on big words and confusing scientific gibberish to prove my case. My knowledge does not come from books and other peoples theories. It comes from my own experiences. Victor and ten other budgies have taught me things the scientific community has been trying to figure out for decades about animal intelligence. All I ask, is for you forget about what you have learned or heard while you are here, and make your own assumptions based on the facts presented on this site. Keeping an open mind should make this a very enjoyable and enlightening experience for you.
